Mission Statement:

The mission of the Platte County Register of Deeds is to record all documents promptly and efficiently; preserving them for the future. Our office shall be committed to providing information and serving the public in an efficient, courteous and economical manner.

The Register of Deeds Department is responsible for recording and maintaining all transactions having to do with Real Property. The duties of the office are to record the documents presented at the time of delivery, proofread and index them accordingly. Documents received in the Register of Deeds Department include, but are not limited to, various Deeds, Plats, Deeds of Trust, Death Certificates, and State and Federal Tax Liens. The Register of Deeds Department makes hard copies and scans documents and processes them for use.

Platte County currently has certain records available on-line.  You can obtain data by searching grantor/grantee or by legal description and print copies free of charge.  We currently have data and documents available to view or print from February 1, 2005, to present.  The website is:  www.nebraskadeedsonline.us
The records in the Register of Deeds Department are vital part of our county's Geographical Information System (GIS).

The register of Deeds is a public office. In addition to the Public, this office is utilized by Real Estate Companies, Title and Abstract Companies, Banks, Law Firms, Appraisers and genealogists. 

Documentary Stamp Tax Rate History

  • November 18, 1965 through September 5, 1985 $0.55 per each $500 of value or fraction thereof
  • September 6, 1985 through December 31, 1992 $1.50 per each $1000 of value or fraction thereof
  • January 1, 1993 through June 30, 2005 $1.75 per each $1000 of value or fraction thereof
  • July 1, 2005 through current $2.25 per each $1000 of value or fraction thereof

Note: In 1965 Nebraska adopted a documentary stamp tax act to become law upon repeal of the Federal documentary stamp act. The Nebraska Documentary Stamp Act became effective January 1, 1968. The Federal rate at the time of repeal was $0.55 per each $500.00 of value or fraction thereof.
